YOLO COUNTY, CA (MPG) – Caltrans is alerting motorists of another traffic shift for the ongoing Yolo Interstate 80 (I-80) and U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) Pavement Rehabilitation Project.

The new traffic shift to westbound US 50 is now in place. Caltrans urges motorists to plan for added travel time and to expect delays. Additional signs are being added to help lessen confusion for motorists.

NEW TRAFFIC SHIFT:

  • The westbound U.S. Highway 50 left two lanes (#1 and #2) are through lanes and take motorists to Davis. (NO access to West Sacramento off-ramps or Interstate 80 EAST RENO connector ramp (EXIT 1A)
  • The westbound US 50 far right lane (#3) has the ONLY access to eastbound Interstate 80 or 80 EAST RENO connector ramp (EXIT 1A) and Harbor Boulevard off-ramp (EXIT 1B), Enterprise Boulevard off-ramp and West Capitol Avenue off-ramp (EXIT 81)

The new traffic shift will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers’ safety.

The work zone is from just west of the Yolo Causeway along Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 50 in West Sacramento. The speed limit has been reduced to 55 miles per hour 24/7 for the safety of workers and motorists.

Work is scheduled to begin as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather conditions, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction-related issues.

This $280 million project includes $47 million from Senate Bill (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. SB 1 provides $5 billion in transportation funding annually, shared equally between state and local agencies.

Road projects progress through construction phases more quickly based on the availability of Senate Bill 1 funds, including projects partially funded by Senate Bill 1. Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties.

Caltrans reminds motorists to “Be Work Zone Alert” and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.

The department will issue updates on X @CaltransDist3 and on Facebook at CaltransDistrict3
