Financial Assistance to Breast Cancer Survivors
Jan 13, 2025 06:10PM ● By Thriving Pink News ReleaseDAVIS, CA (MPG) - Thriving Pink invites Yolo County breast cancer survivors to apply for its Granting Pink Program, offering financial aid for essential needs like medical care, rent, groceries, treatments and prescriptions. Applications are open at thrivingpink.org/granting-pink in English and Spanish until Jan. 31.
“I am so proud of our Yolo County community for ensuring Thriving Pink can continue this good work,” said Granting Pink Chair Rose Cholewinski, owner of SwimAmerica-Davis. “We have distributed over $300,000 to help local residents battling this disease, which has taken too many loved ones.”
Applications, including detailed eligibility requirements, are available on the website at thrivingpink.org/granting-pink. Individuals can also nominate a friend, neighbor or family member by completing the simple application on their behalf.
“The generosity and personal support provided to those of us who receive these generous gifts make Thriving Pink unique in this community,” said Martha Ozonoff, a past grant recipient and current board member of Thriving Pink.
Tatum Clinton-Selin, a 2021 grant recipient, shared her story.
“I was not even old enough for a mammogram when I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in March 2021,” Clinton-Selin said. “I had just moved to the area from the East Coast, far from my family, when I found a lump during a self-exam. I went through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. I am thankful for Thriving Pink and the great support from this caring community.”
In addition to financial assistance, Thriving Pink offers supportive programs for breast cancer survivors. These include one-on-one mentorship for newly diagnosed women through Pink Peers, Pink Speaker Series virtual workshops on wellness, treatment options, and support groups (second and fourth Mondays, 7 to 8 p.m.), and an in-person Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Group at the Thriving Pink Office (501 2nd St., Davis). For more information about these programs and events, visit the calendar at https://www.thrivingpink.org/calendar.
“Until there is a cure, Thriving Pink is committed to its vision that no one will go through breast cancer alone. Together, we are building a stronger community,” said Leslie Hunter, Executive Director of Thriving Pink.
