WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - After 25 years of service with the West Sacramento Police Department, Deputy Chief Carl Crouch is announcing his retirement. Carl’s official last day will be May 8th. DC Crouch has served as a patrol officer, FTO, OIC and department trainer. As a Sergeant, he served as a Patrol Sgt., Investigations Sgt, and Administrative Sgt. Upon promoting to Lieutenant, DC Crouch served in Patrol and in Administration. Upon appointment to Deputy Chief, he has assisted our department as we navigated our way through COVID-19 and the past years of uncertainty that have come upon our profession.

In anticipation of the retirement of DC Crouch, an internal recruitment process was conducted to select the next Deputy Chief. Lieutenant Charles Meeks has been selected to serve as the next Deputy Chief. Lt. Meeks came to WSPD after his retirement with the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department where he served for 23 years and was the Commander in charge of the main jail (the largest division in the department). He was the Commander of the Work Release and Security Services Bureau. Additionally, he was the Assistant Commander of the Central Patrol Division and served as the department’s Academy Director. Please join us in congratulating both Deputy Chief Crouch and Lt. Meeks on their next endeavors!
