GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) - Local youth and Ms. Agriculture America Butte County Jr. Teen Queen, Ali Khan, has started a project to wrap seniors in warmth this season – her Tree of Hope Winter Blanket Drive!
Kahn shares her inspiration for the project, saying “When visiting my grandma at the Post Acute Yuba City facility I realized not every resident had a soft blanket just as my grandma does when watching her tv shows. After seeing this, I decided I would collect blanket donations for the residents of Post Acute because it gets cold in winter, and everyone deserves their very own soft, cuddly blanket to snuggle up with.”
Her goal is to collect 58 new blankets but will also gladly accept blanket making supplies, materials, and monetary donations.
If Khan exceeds her goal, she plans to donate extra blankets to a local homeless shelter. Excess monetary donations will be put towards the purchase of a projector for the seniors at Post Acute.
Please drop your donations at the Railhouse Pub and Grill located at 1495 Hwy 99, Gridley. You may also make arrangements to have your donations picked up by contacting [email protected] or by calling 530-844-6177.
