GRIDLEY, CA (MPG) – A new group has joined the Gridley High School club roster.
Sponsored by the Gridley Rotary Club, Gridley High Schools’ Interact Club has found its footing, officially forming at the start of this year. The club meets each week and has adopted the mission statement ‘Service Above Self.’ In just two months they have grown to 61 members and counting. Rotarian Margaret Hughes is the liaison between the Interact Club and Gridley Rotary, while Liz Ayon is the club’s advisor.
Ayon says, “Our goal is to provide service to our school and community.” As Interact club members, they are required to have 12 hours of community service each semester, Ayon adding that “we are looking for ways to serve and would love community members to contact us with projects and ideas to help these young people learn the value of giving back.”
Interact’s first major act of service was held just recently as they joined Gridley Rotary to give the old band room/cafeteria building, now the home of GHS Leadership, a fresh coat of paint. They worked side-by-side with the Rotarians for hours as they tried to better an area of campus in much need.
The 2022-2023 Interact Club Officers are: President- Nevaeh Marshall, Vice President- Jose Magana Valle, Secretary- Alexia Gutierrez, Treasurer- Nico Donati, and Publicity Chair- Addison Busch.
