BIGGS, CA (MPG) – A pumpkin so large it could rival Cinderella’s Coach sits outside Wheelers Ranch and Feed in Biggs, not to mention a host of tiny to larger carvers, colorful Cinderella pumpkins and fall harvest gourds.

Wheelers Ranch and Feed invites the community out to the store and ranch to take pictures with the Giant Pumpkin, grown by local Brian Werner. The white beauty won 3rd place in a giant pumpkin contest and weighs in at a whopping 1679 pounds!  The seed which it was grown from appropriately came from last year’s giant pumpkin, also grown by Werner and featured outside the feed store.

This year, owner and operator of Wheelers, Kayla Dunlap is keeping it simple and allowing the natural flow of the Ranch to draw in visitors. The regulars are available for the kiddos’ petting fun - baby calves, the mini-donkey, horses, goats, chickens and more. A ‘mini pumpkin field’ has been made from rings of hay-bales for those who want the feel of field picking, but for those who want to pluck their favorite pumpkin quickly, there are bins organized by size, shape and color.

All the pumpkins at Wheeler Ranch and Feed were grown locally by Werner and prices range from $1.50 to $12 depending on the size and style of the pumpkins chosen. Dunlap invites all to come out and enjoy this free opportunity to support local growers, entertain the kiddos, and take part in family-friendly fun while enjoying the authentic ranch atmosphere. She even suggests bringing a picnic lunch and setting under one of their shade trees to wrap up the fun on the ranch!

Wheelers Ranch and Feed & Boutique is located at 3247 Smith Avenue in Biggs. Visit them online at wheelerranchandfeed.com or on their Facebook page.
