The Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce, with support from local businesses, community volunteers, CALFIRE/Butte County, and more, are preparing for the 61^st annual Red Suspenders Day!

At 7:00 am, the smell of butter and syrup wafting from the Little League Pancake Breakfast in Railroad Park (next to the skate park) will kick off the festivities that will last most of the day, Saturday May 21^st. Flipping pancakes will be the Knights of Columbus and the Masons, with the breakfast served to guests by Gridley Little Leaguers. Plates are just $5 per person and the money goes to fund the Gridley Little League. Cash and card accepted.

Vendors, Food Trucks, and Classic Cars for the Red Suspenders Day Car Show arrive at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Nearly 90 vendors, including food vendors, will be present at this years Red Suspenders Day for guests ultimate shopping and dining experiences.

The Red Suspenders Day 2022 Car Show in the heart of Downtown Gridley will feature all models of cars and trucks from the year 1973 and older. Vehicles will be judged in the following categories: Best Engine, Best Interior, Best Paint Job, Best in Show, and People’s Choice.

The long-standing tradition of the bed races will gather the crowd along the parade route at 9:30 for a rousing battle of the beds. Five teams are ready to pit themselves against each other for ultimate bragging rights for the year. Last year, the Napa Butte Auto bed collapsed due to too much weight and too much fun, but it will be back in action this year to compete once more!!

The 61^st annual Red Suspenders Day Parade will begin at 11:00, this year’s theme being “Salute to our Armed Forces”. In proper fashion, the parade will have the honor of the the Beale Air Force Base Honor Guard leading the way down the parade route. Multiple CALFIRE fire equipment, military equipment, and more will be part of the procession that will make its way from Virginia Streets and turns onto Hazel Street.

Guest can also enjoy opportunities to have pictures taken with princesses or superheroes and live music throughout the day. The annual Fireman Games begin at 1:00 pm where Firemen and Cadets from the Fire Academy will pit battle it out in a series of exercises, or games, that splash bystanders with water from their hoses.

The evening will cumulate with the Museum Tri-Tip Dinner Fundraiser Drive Thru from 4-7 pm.
