SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) - Today Assemblyman Kevin Kiley (R-Rocklin) announced that in addition to campaigning for the Recall of Gavin Newsom, he will be filing papers to replace Newsom as Governor.

This announcement follows the publication of an open letter by Orrin Heatlie, Lead Proponent of the Newsom Recall, asking Kiley to enter the race on behalf of many people who have volunteered in the movement.

The campaign will hold a kickoff rally on Saturday, July 10, at 10 AM on the west steps of the State Capitol. The website is KileyForCalifornia.com.

"I've said I'm ready to play whatever role will do the most to get our movement across the finish line," Kiley said. "After hearing from tens of thousands of Californians, I'm convinced that role is to replace Gavin Newsom as Governor."
