Kate Stille has been elected to the Sacramento Region Community Foundation's Board of Directors.

Sacramento Region Community Foundation (the Foundation) announced that Kate Stille, co-owner and director of marketing at Nugget Market, Inc., has been elected to its Board of Directors.

“Because she’s spent fifteen years at Nugget Markets, Kate understands the complexity and nuance of the Sacramento region food system—from growing to distribution, from individual customers to institutional purchasers—and we are thrilled that she has joined our team,” said Dennis Mangers, chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Her leadership will be extremely valuable as the Foundation continues working to address hunger locally,” he added, noting that Stille’s expertise will support the Foundation’s hunger initiative. That initiative, “Connecting the Regional Food Economy,” aims to resolve the disconnect between the abundant agricultural output of the Sacramento region and the reality that many in its communities suffer from limited access to healthy, fresh foods.

Stille’s election to the Board of Directors follows the Foundation’s recent $100,000 grant to Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services to strengthen the region’s emergency food system. Both her election and the Foundation’s significant gift advance findings from the Sacramento Region Food System Action Plan, an in-depth report developed by the Foundation and Valley Vision that recommends enhancing local leadership and strategic investments to relieve hunger in the region.

Owned by the Stille family for nearly a century, Nugget Market, Inc. operates over a dozen grocery stores in Northern California. During Stille’s tenure as Co-Owner and Director of Marketing, the grocer has grown its support for community causes, directing much of its giving to local nonprofits and educational institutions that promote sustainable agriculture and health education throughout the region.

Stille’s community leadership extends beyond her roles at Nugget Market Inc. and the Foundation. She also serves on the Government Relations Committee for the National Grocer’s Association, Sacramento’s Farm to Fork Steering Committee, and the American Red Cross Capitol Region Board of Directors. Previously, she has served on a variety of other community boards and commissions, including those supporting Yolo First 5, Yolo Food Bank, Davis Art Center, Springlake Fire District, and Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of the American Leadership Forum, Class XVI.
